Nelda Marion Bethel

Nelda Marion Bethel, 83, of Arizona, formerly of McArthur, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Liann's Homes in Scottsdale, Arizona. She was born April 17, 1929 in Kitchener, Ontario Canada, daughter of the late Ellis A. and Minnie L. Reinhardt Piper. Nelda was the widow of the late John Arthur William Bethel, who passed away June 26, 2005.

Nelda was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Zaleski and a former member of the Herbert Wescoat Memorial Library Board of Trustees. She was a former member of the ladies Wednesday Night Bridge Club, was an avid golfer at the Athens Country Club. She deeply enjoyed the camaraderie of her friends in all these activities.

She is survived by her son, Jim Vickie Bethel of Greensboro, North Carolina; daughter, Judy Theisen of Scottsdale, Arizona; grandchildren, Jon Ashley Bethel and Matthew Bethel both of Greensboro, North Carolina and a niece, Joan Andrew Vann of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nelda was preceded in death by her brother, Roy Piper.

A memorial service will be held 2 P.M., Saturday, May 5, 2012 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Father Joseph Trapp officiating. Inurnment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Nelda Marion Bethel to the Herbert Wescoat Memorial Library, 120 N. Market St., McArthur, Ohio 45651.
