Viola Maxine Smith

Viola Maxine Smith, 88, of Nelsonville, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. She was born May 3, 1924 in Lawrence County, Ohio, daughter of the late Robert and Flora Wilson Kingery. Maxine was the widow of the late Arthur Smith.

She was a retired cook from the former Sportsmans Restaurant in Athens.

Maxine is survived by her sons, Kermit Sylvia Miller of California, Robert Jennifer Miller of Columbus, James Paul Miller of Nelsonville, Charles Linda Miller of Nelsonville, Phil Eugene Miller of Athens, Randy Tabor of The Plains and Edward Dawn Smith of The Plains; daughters, Betty Paskins of Athens and Brenda Scott McKee of Nelsonville; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and a sister, Pearl Berry.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Lucetta and Patricia Miller and great granddaughter, Brittney.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be held in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield. Friends may call at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, on Wednesday, from 2-4 P.M.
