Alva M. Clark

Alva M. Clark, 92, of Ray, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012 at his family farm. He was born December 28, 1919 in Vinton County, son of the late Fred and Edith Graves Clark. On December 9, 1953, Alva married Dorothy L. Michels Clark, who passed away June 22, 1993.

He was a lifetime farmer and retired from the Mead Corporation in 1984. Alva served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII from 1942-1945, was a member of the McArthur VFW Post #5299 and graduated from Allensville High School in 1937. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories to his family and friends.

Alva is survived by his children, Jennifer Lum Smith of Ray, Jeff Delores ""Sue"" Clark of Londonderry and Candace ""Candi"" Clark of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Regina Travis McGraw, Alan ""A.J."" Smith, Kristina Clark and Michael Clark; great grandchildren, Holli and Tyler McGraw; sisters, Virgie Burt of Plantation, Florida, Marge Kinney of Powell, Ohio and Marilyn Riddle of Londonderry and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his six brothers, Glenn, Donald, Homer, Herbert, Ralph and John and a sister, Esculine.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, July 31, 2012 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. James McFadden officiating. Interment will be in Londonderry Cemetery, Londonderry, with military graveside services being conducted by the McArthur VFW Post #5299. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 5-8 P.M.
