Myrtle Catherin Mitchell

Myrtle Catherine Mitchell, 86, of McArthur, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Maple Hills Nursing Home in McArthur. She was born May 30, 1926 in Vinton County, daughter of the late Roy and Bessie Storer Nickels. Myrtle was married for 63 years to the late Floyd James ""Jim"" Mitchell.

She retired from Austin Powder Company after 19 years of service and enjoyed gardening, quilting and spending time with her family.

Myrtle is survived by her twelve children, Mary Young of Shade, Bessie Irvin of Springfield, Emmett Marsha Mitchell of Zanesville, Charlotte Daniel Bauman of Shade, Joan William Roe of Jackson, Betty William Humphrey of Logan, Virginia Glenn Haddix of McArthur, Richard Mitchell of McArthur, Jerry Lynn Mitchell of Logan, Jack Korey Mitchell of Breman, Marilyn Boyde of Coalton and Paul Tammy Dryden Mitchell of Chillicothe; thirty grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Roy Dean Mitchell; grandchildren, Nicole Gee, Matthew Mitchell, Lori Zinn and Brenda Cullison; brothers, William, Orville, Harvey and Edward Nickels and sisters, Florence Murdock and Mary Reynolds.

Graveside services will be held 2 P.M., Saturday, August 4, 2012 in Elk Cemetery, McArthur, with Pastor David Peoples officiating. No calling hours will be observed. Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Myrtle Catherine Mitchell to Maple Hills Nursing Home Activity Fund, 31054 State Route 93, McArthur, Ohio 45651.
