Charles R. Penrod

Charles R. Penrod, 88, of Columbus, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Crown Point Care Center in Columbus. He was born February 23, 1924 in Vinton County, son of the late Howard and Grace Rosser Penrod. Charles was married to the late Ann Reed Penrod.

He retired after 39 years at Jeffrey Dresser Industries as a machinist and was a WWII Army Veteran. Charles was a member of the Maynard Ave. United Methodist Church and was a 30 year veteran of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

He is survived by his sons, Glenn H. Penrod and Ben C. Penrod, both of Columbus and a sister, Esther Reynolds of McArthur.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Dale, Sylvester and Melvin Penrod and sisters, Anna and Ruth Penrod and Leonetta Tewksbury.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor Patricia Wagner officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.
