Thelma Rose Harper, of Chillicothe, passed from this life, Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center in Chillicothe, following a brief illness. She was born June 22, 1921 in Ray, Ohio, daughter of the late Harmon and Zena Dozer Bethel. Rose was the widow of the late Roy Clinton Harper.
In addition to her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Patricia Ann Harper; brothers, Fornie, Ornie, Carl and Otis “Pete” Bethel and sisters, Hazel Bevard, Osie Bevard, Mabel Clipner, Roxie Reynolds and an infant sister, Mary Katherine Bethel.
She is survived by her nieces, Delores Hughes, with whom she resided, Roma Doles, Helen Louise Graves, Donna Lewis, Vera Minton, Beverly Brady, Helen Brohard and Betty Knox; nephews, Ronald (Judy) Bethel, Mike (Linda) Scott, Melvin (Connie) Graves and Paul (Pat) Graves and several great nieces’ and nephews.
Rose had been employed at the National Fireworks Company during WWII and in later years at several local restaurants. She had recently attended Vigo Baptist Church.
Our aunt Rose was a very special and loving person and she will be terribly missed by all of her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Thursday, September 20, 2012 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Rev. James McFadden and Pastor Chuck Ramsey officiating. Interment will be in Londonderry Cemetery, Londonderry. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 6-8 P.M.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Rose Harper to the American Cancer Society Central Ohio Region Office-HCKG, 5555 Frantz Rd., Dublin, OH 43017 or to the Ross County Humane Society, 2308 Lick Run Rd., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
