John E. Amnah, 87, of Glouster, passed away Friday, November 2, 2012 at the VA Medical Center in Chillicothe. He was born April 25, 1925 in Columbus, son of the late John D. and Mary Winifred Hall Amnah.
He was a retired Chief Petty Officer for the United States Navy serving in WWII, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. John was a member of the Jacksonville VFW Post #9866 and the Order of The Purple Heart.
John is survived by his sons, Monte (Betty) Amnah of Logan, Edward Amnah of Chillicothe and J. Domonic (Debbie) Amnah of Oklahoma; a daughter, Vicki (Jon) Christian of Nelsonville; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild and a brother, James (Judy) Amnah of Logan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nellie Helber Amnah; daughter, Melanie Amnah; brother, Charles Amnah and sisters, Betty Bauman, Helen Riddlebarger and Elizabeth Glenn.
Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Wednesday, November 7, 2012 in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M.
The family would to extend their gratitude for the care he received at the VA Medical Center in Chillicothe.
