Emmitt “Mack” Thompson, 77, of McArthur, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Maple Hills Nursing Home in McArthur. He was born August 11, 1935 in Vinton County, son of the late Emmitt and Edna Jividen Thompson. Mack was married to the late Opal Morris Thompson.
He retired from Austin Powder Company and formerly owned Op’s Place and Thompsons New and Used Furniture in McArthur.
Mack is survived by his daughters, Carol Edna Gibbs and Mary Jo Reynolds both of Vandalia, Ohio; grandson, Cody Reynolds; brothers, Art (Linda Russ) Thompson of McArthur and Bill Thompson; sisters, Joann (Melvin) Carpenter of South Bloomingville, Gene (Jeff) Kemmer of Lancaster, Sue (Lowell) Staten of Lancaster and Libby Enciso of Pennsylvania and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Thompson and stepson, Ted Wolfe.
Funeral services will be held 12 P.M., Thursday, December 27, 2012, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. James McFadden officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 5-8 P.M and on Thursday, one hour prior to the services.
