Aleta Lorraine Woofter, 83, of Shawnee, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012 at her residence. She was born May 20, 1929 in Wilsontown, West Virginia, daughter of the late Sidney Young and Opal Lane Morrison. Lorraine was the widow of the late Brooks Woofter.

She retired from Logan Health Care Center and was a member of New Straitsville Apostolic Gospel Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for Primary Class for many years.

Lorraine is survived by her sons, David (Fran) Woofter of New Lexington and John (Charlotte) Woofter of Shawnee; daughter, Vickie (Bill) Burnett of Chipley, Florida, Naomi (Tony Ellis) Colvin of New Straitsville and Mary (Tom) Scott of Shawnee; twenty two grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; brothers, Buddy (Donna) Morrison of Ohio and Junior (Bonnie) Morrison of New Straitsville; sisters, Vileta Wilt and Betty Lou Coomer, both of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Woofter; daughter, Linda Woofter; brother, Jack Morrison and sisters, Gatha Thompson, Thelma Marrow and Bonnie Bernard.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Monday, December 31, 2012 in the New Straitsville Apostolic Gospel Church, 333 W. Main St., New Straitsville, with Rev. Mike Thompson officiating. Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Perry County. Friends may call at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, on Sunday, from 5-8 P.M. and on Monday, one hour prior to the services at the church.
