Harold G. Wolfe

Harold G. Wolfe, 96, of Creola, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan. He was born February 18, 1916 in Walton, West Virginia, son of the late Edward B. and Elizabeth Keffer Wolfe. Harold was married on August 15, 1936 to the late Nellie Eileen Hewitt Wolfe.

He retired from the Vinton County Highway Department after 26 years of service and was a member of the Cornelius Community Chapel Church in Creola. Harold formerly worked at Fullers Sawmill and Benedicts Coal in Creola.

He is survived by his children, Lawrence (Beverly) Wolfe of Creola, Lloyd Wolfe of Creola, Gary (Jan) Wolfe of Wellston, Karen (Ralph) Whittington of Tucson, Arizona and Doug (Tammy) Conley of Nelsonville; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; brother, Jim Wolfe of Ripley, West Virginia; sister, Virginia White of Columbus; son-in-law, Richard Karns of Creola and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Harold was preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Karns; granddaughter, Jeanie Barger; brothers, Herman, Wayne, Edward Jr., French, Ernest and Denver Wolfe and sisters, Estelle Conley, Hazel Turner, Dorothy Rider and Mabel Wolfe.

Funeral services will be held 12 P.M., Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Cornelius Community Chapel Church, 64894 Karns Rd., Creola, with Rev. Jerry R. Griffith Jr. and Pastor Donald Lamb officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Tuesday, from 6-8 P.M. and on Wednesday, one hour prior to the services at the church.
