Alice Carmella Nickels

Alice Carmella Nickels, 82, of McArthur, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at her residence. She was born July 6, 1930 in Vinton County, daughter of the late Joseph S. and Zella L. Peck Stewart. Alice was the widow of the late Edward R. Nickels.

She was a member of Allensville Church of Christ in Christian Union.

Alice is survived by her children, Jerry (Sue) Swackhammer of Dundas, Evelyn Gilliland of McArthur, Dean (Sharon) Nickels of McArthur, Richard (Dixie) Nickels of McArthur and Debbie Graham of McArthur; seventeen grandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; brother, Burman Stewart of Allensville and sisters, Roselene (Don) Mallot of Chillicothe and Judy (Theodore) Rogers of Dayton.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Burley, Eddie, Charles, Ovid and Gerald Stewart; sister, Garnett Pettit and sons-in-law, Tom Gilliland and Brian Graham.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Monday, January 7, 2013 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor Phil Demint officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, from 5-8 P.M.
