Betty L. Lyons

Betty L. Lyons, 86, of Buchtel, went to be with her Lord Saturday, April 13, 2013. She was born March 6, 1927 in Nelsonville, the daughter of the late James and Sylvia Thompson Nelson. She was the widow of the late Orville Lyons, Sr.

Betty’s life was centered on her children and grandchildren. She loved her Lord and attended the Nelsonville Church of the Nazarene. She retired from Ohio University and was a member of the Nelsonville VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She also loved sewing.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, with whom she made her home, Shirley Bostater and Jack Gabriel of Buchtel; sons and daughters-in-law, Orville and Bobbi Lyons of Buchtel, Roger and Rose Lyons of Nelsonville and Rob Lyons of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Kristina (Dale) Gray, Marti (Charles) Nelson, Craig (Missy) Bostater, Angie Lyons, Roger (Lisa) Lyons, Jr., Jason (Julie) Lyons, Courtney Alvis, Jennifer (Rice) Polley, Bryan (Cierra) VanDyke, Lindsey Lyons and Kaylee Lyons; one great grandson; and special sister-in-law, Lessie Nelson of Arizona.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Nelson; two infant sisters, brothers, Jack, Fred, Bill, and Bob Nelson; grandsons, Dale Lyons and Spencer Roberts and a very special son-in-law, Charley Bostater.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St, Nelsonville with Rev. Ed True officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, New Addition. Friends may call from 6-8 PM Monday, April 15, 2013 at the funeral home.
