Lois Prater

Lois Prater, 83, of McArthur, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013 at Holzer Medical Center in Jackson. She was born January 24, 1930 in Pike County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Jesse and Polly Coleman. Lois was married to Luster Prater, who survives.

She retired from Austin Powder Company in July of 1994 and was a member of Maggie Home Church in Dundas.

Lois is survived by her sons, Ron (Jody) Prater of Mobile, Alabama and Randall (Teresa) Prater of McArthur; daughters, Sharon (Gary) Kersey of Wilmington, Ohio, Lucy (Greg) Peck of Rogers, Arkansas and Brenda Prater Paige of Kannapolis, North Carolina; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; brothers, Arthur Coleman of McArthur, Marshall Coleman of McArthur, Terry Coleman of McArthur, Odell Coleman of Rochester, Indiana, Chan Coleman of McArthur, Dean Coleman of Reynoldsburg, Roy Coleman of McArthur and Robert Coleman of Wellston and sisters, Christine Newsom of McArthur, Esther Coleman of Pike County, Kentucky, Minnie Prater of Hamden, Charlene Peoples of McArthur, Lerlie Peoples of McArthur and Irene Williams of McArthur.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Prater; brothers, Jesse and Elmer Coleman; sisters, Madeline Ratliff and Hester Coleman and her stepmother, Pansy Coleman.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Friday, April 26, 2013 at Maggie Home Church in Dundas with Elder Donald Mullins, Elder Jerry Runyon and Elder Greg Sowards officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Thursday, from 5-8 P.M.
