Pastor Clyde Graves, 90, of McArthur, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Holzer Assisted Living in Jackson. He was born November 11, 1922 in Vinton County, son of the late Jackson and Daisy Sowers Graves. Clyde was married for 70 years to Virginia Hubbard Graves, who survives.
He was a former salesman for Snap-On-Tools, a farmer and has been a Pastor since 1972. Clyde was a member of Allensville Christian Church, a former Vinton County School Board member and worked a milk route. He conducted over 100 funerals and over 100 weddings.
He is survived by his son, Gene (Brenda) Graves of Lima; thirteen grandchildren; twenty eight great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; daughter-in-law, Terry Graves of Lexington, Kentucky and former daughter-in-law, Lisa Graves of McArthur.
In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his sons, Larry and Donald Graves; a great grandson; sisters, Ethel Wallingford and Hazel Soughton and five brothers, Owen, Roy, Ernest “Joe”, Raymond “Billy” and Delano Graves.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Wednesday, May 29, 2013 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor Riley Coleman officiating. Interment will be in Londonderry Cemetery, Londonderry. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 6-8 and on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
