Diana L. Smathers

Diana L. Smathers, 64, of Nelsonville, passed away Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Cleveland Clinic. She was born May 15, 1949 in Athens, the daughter of Harold W. and Cleo H. Crabtree Thomas of Chauncey. She was married to Paul E. Smathers of Nelsonville, who survives.

She attended the Buchtel Untied Methodist Church and was a member of The Plains VFW.

In addition to her husband, Paul, she is survived by stepsons, John Smathers and Joel Smathers both of Columbus; grandchildren, Nicole, Tia, Caitlin and Chaz; brothers, Harold R. “Butch” Thomas of The Plains and Michael (Tammy) Thomas of Sugar Grove.

Diana was preceded in death by a grandson, J.C. Daubenmire and a stepdaughter, Paula Hummel.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St, Nelsonville with Pastor Mike Thomas officiating. Interment will be at Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield. Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
