Ferne Rowland Felton

Ferne Rowland Felton, 97, of McArthur, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan. She was born June 14, 1916 in Athens, daughter of the late Charles Elija and Nora Ethel Ludwick Rowland. Ferne was the widow of the late Harold Victor Felton. They were married on June 19, 1943.

Ferne graduated from Ohio University and taught Business Education in High School for 37 years, 36 years in McArthur and 1 year at Denison High School. She was a member of the McArthur Presbyterian Church, a member of the SERENO Chapter#128 Order of Easter Star, a 28 year member of Delta Kappa Gamma and was a former member of the Business and Professional Women of Vinton County.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Dixie Rowland; several nieces, nephews and special friends including, Clayton Newman, Beverly Newman, Patty Napier, Mary and Ernie Partee and JoAnn and Marvin Partee.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ferne was preceded in death by her sister, Louise Rowland Poling and brother, George Rowland.

Funeral services will be held 11A.M., Friday, August 9, 2013 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Christine Burns officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 P.M. with an Eastern Star service being held at 7:30 P.M.
