Richard Long

Richard Long, 73, of Corning, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville. He was born December 4, 1939 in Nelsonville, son of the late John and Eva Stevens Long Sr.

Richard was a retired cement finisher, a member of Local #536 and was an Air Force Veteran.

He is survived by his son, Richard Allen Long of Columbus; daughters, Gwen Long and Valerie Long, both of Columbus; grandchildren, Alonda Long, Victor Parker II and JaShawn McIntyre; great grandchild, Kaydin Maton; sisters, Martha Warner and Dora Jean Long, both of Columbus; former wife and special friend, Mary Long of Columbus and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant son, Richard Eric Long; son, Clifford Harris; brother, John Long Jr. and sisters, Mary, Irma, Hazel, Babe, Barbara and Ruth Long and Rozella Chapman.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Wednesday, August 28, 2013 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home,46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, with Pastor Gabriel Norris officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 11 A.M. until the time of the service.
