Jerry L. Swackhammer, 66, of Dundas, passed away Friday, September 27, 2013 at his residence. He was born April 30, 1947 in Laurelville, son of the late Edward and Alice Stuart Nickels. Jerry was married to Pamela “Sue” Long Swackhammer, who survives.
He was retired from General Mills and was a Vietnam era veteran of the United States Army.
Jerry is survived by sons, Brad Swackhammer of Galena, Brian (Heather) Swackhammer of Sunbury and Nathan Swackhammer of Westerville; stepsons, David (Kelly) Coffey of Chillicothe and Rob Coffey of Hamden; grandchildren, Kobe, Zane, Kyler, Brandon, Devon, Elisabeth, Rebecca and Allyssa; sisters and brothers, Evelyn Gilliland of McArthur, Dean (Sharon) Nickels of McArthur, Richard (Dixie) Nickels of McArthur and Debbie Graham of McArthur; several nieces, nephews and brother and sisters-in-law.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Louise Long.
Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Tuesday, October 1, 2013 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor Phil DeMint and Pastor Jesse Reynolds officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
