Daniel J. Sanborn

Daniel J. Sanborn, 82, of Glouster, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at his residence. He was born December 6, 1930 in Jacksonville, son of the late Cecil and Lena Roberts Sanborn.

He worked at David Davies Meat Packaging, American Refrigeration and he retired from Rollins Trucking. Daniel was an Army Veteran, loved to golf, roaming Athens County with his brothers and doing anything outdoors. He was an avid collector... of everything.

He is survived by his children, Susan (Floyd) Mercer of Reese, Christopher (Georgia) Sanborn of Redtown, Melissa (David) Hummel of Athens and Sandra (Cleo Conley) Ballou of Redtown; twenty six grandchildren; thirty six great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; brothers, Elmer Sanborn of Millfield, Dwight (Doris) Sanborn of Reese and Foster Sanborn of Glouster and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 34 years, Hazel Joan Aulger Sanborn; son, James Daniel Sanborn; grandsons, David and Matthew Sanborn; five sisters and four brothers.

He will always be loved and sadly missed by his children and family.

Funeral services will be held 12 P.M., Thursday, November 7, 2013 in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 30 Main St., Glouster, with Rev. Rocky Sanborn officiating. Interment will be in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield, with military graveside services being conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 10 A.M. until the time of the service.
