Michael E. Patton

Michael E. Patton, 71, of Nelsonville, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013 at his residence, surrounded by his family after a 2 ½ year illness. He was born May 13, 1942 in Nelsonville, son of the late Lloyd Ervin and Ruth Leona Warren Patton. Michael was married to Norma Dalton Patton, who survives.


He was a retired heavy equipment construction foreman and a Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era. Michael was a life member of the Nelsonville Elks BPOE #543, a member of the Nelsonville American Legion, an avid golfer and a standout basketball player at Nelsonville High School. He loved playing pinnacle with his brothers and was a loving husband, stepfather, grandfather and brother.


Michael is survived by his stepchildren, Lora Fouty Cordell of Cincinnati, Michael (Stephanie Moore) Fouty of Nelsonville, Karen (Michael) Flores of Nelsonville and Lynn Odenthal of Marysville; grandchildren, Ryan (Laura) Steele, Kyle (Justine) Steele, Brandon Flores, Mya Flores, Ethan Odenthal, Markie Campbell and Christa Campbell; great grandson, Robert T. Steele; brothers, David (Marlene) Patton of Athens, Jerry (Judy) Patton of Nelsonville and Steve (Linda) Patton of Nelsonville; sisters, Gloria (Leroy Bell) Buchanan of Glouster, Linda (Rev. Wilbur) White of Coshocton, Penny Patton of Buchtel and Rebecca Patton (Paul) Kurfis of Harpster; mother-in-law, Mary Maxine Dalton of Nelsonville; sister-in-law, Patricia (Tim) Colwell of Nelsonville; brother-in-law, Donald Larry (Lana) Dalton of Dover, Tennessee and numerous nieces and nephews.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Faith Swaim and Sonya Patton.


Funeral services will be held 12 P.M., Wednesday, November 27, 2013 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, with Rev. Wilbur White officiating. Interment will be in Connett Cemetery, Nelsonville, with military graveside services being conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 5-8 P.M., where an American Legion service will be held at 7:30 P.M. and on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.
