Daniel E. Newman

Daniel E. Newman., 66, of Athens, passed away Friday, December 27, 2013 at his residence. He was born September 19, 1947, in Durand, Michigan, son of the late Wayne, Sr. and Marion Post Newman. He was married to his wife and soul mate Paula Russell Newman, who survives.

Dan was a carpenter by trade and worked for many years in Athens County for Grueser Building. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren and his four-legged children. He greeted everyone with a smile and a wave and was a blessing to everyone he knew.

In addition to his wife, Paula, he is survived by two sons, Scott (Nadine) Newman of San Diego, California and Dustin Handley of Glouster; two daughters, Samantha (Nate) McMann of San Diego, California and Dawn Handley of Athens; grandchildren, Chloe, Travis, Faith, Parker, Brandon and Sydney; a brother, Terry (Karen) Newman of Swartz Creek, Michigan; a special sister-in-law, Jan Newman of Weidman, Michigan; and a mother-in-law, Shirley Russell of Athens

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Newman and a brother, Wayne Newman, Jr.

Daniel’s wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held by the family in March 2014. Arrangements are by the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville
