Rodney Luther Bookman

Rodney Luther Bookman, 78, of Nelsonville, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 at Arcadia Acres Nursing Home in Logan. He was born October 30, 1935 in Hocking County, son of the late Clayton and Helen Gaskin Bookman. Rodney was married for 55 years to D. Charlene Jarvis Bookman, who survives.

He retired from AEP, was a member of the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church and was an Army Veteran. Rodney was a member of The Plains VFW, a member of the Murray City American Legion and a member of the Chauncey AMVETS.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Rodney Bookman of Buchtel; daughter, Sharlena (Don) Jones of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Martesa (Chris) Hillyer of Athens, Nicole (Jimmy) Sterling of Erlanger, Kentucky, Justin Seeger of Dayton, Rodney Bookman Jr. of Buchtel and William (Kimberly) Bookman of Nelsonville; seven great grandchildren and brothers, Clayton “Jack” (Imogene) Bookman of Murray City and Dana Bookman of Logan.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, January 9, 2014 in the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church, with Pastor Mike Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Whitmore Cemetery, Buchtel, with military graveside services being conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit. Friends may call at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville on Wednesday, from 5-8 P.M. and on Thursday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
