Anna Jean Skivers, 82, of Lancaster, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Homestead Center in Lancaster. She was born July 15, 1931 in Carbondale, the daughter of the late Ralph and Lottie Mae Spires Jewett. She was the widow of the late Gerald Skivers.
She was a proud certified nursing assistant who retired from Crestview Manor and formerly worked at Lancaster Glass. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren and loved working in her yard and flower garden.
Anna is survived by her son Ralph Skivers of Buchtel; daughters Kathryn Wharton of Columbus and Leora Skivers of Vermillion; 5 grandchildren, Joe Wharton of Columbus, Stacey Skivers of Glouster, Wendy Skivers of Murray City, J.R. Skivers of Tennessee, Louie Skivers of Nelsonville; 11 great grandchildren, Janette, Jordan, Katelyn, Ernie Jr., Tim, Kaleigh, Ashlyn, Chelsea, Kris, Joseph and Alex; 1 great great grandchild, Jesslynn; and her sister, Phyllis (Clarence) O’Nail of Nelsonville.
In addition to her parents and husband, Anna was preceded in death by a son, Gerald “Louie” Skivers; a grandson, Jeffrey Alan Wharton; her brother, Robert Jewett; sisters, Maureen Lent, Goldie Messenger and Lorraine Cline.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, Ohio 45764 with Rev. Ernie Perkins officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery New Addition, Nelsonville. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
