James Patrick Mccarthy

James Patrick McCarthy, 64, of McArthur, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014 at his residence. He was born February 13, 1949 in Pasadena, California, son of the late Daniel Joseph and Mary Margaret Mastbaum McCarthy.

James was employed at Snowville Creamery in Pomeroy. He was a Vietnam Navy Veteran and a member of the Albany VFW Post #9893 and the McArthur VFW Post #5299.

James is survived by his brothers, Kevin McCarthy of McArthur and Mark (Barbara) McCarthy of Cincinnati; sister, Angela (Victor) Hosfeld of Romeo, Michigan; nieces and nephews, Nicole and Joshua Hosler, Kristin and Victor Hosfeld, Brittany Daniel and Sydney Lynn McCarthy; aunt, Sister Carol McCarthy and a host of friends he considered his family in the Athens area.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Joseph McCarthy.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, January 18, 2014 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Jerry Griffith Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur, with military graveside services being conducted by the Albany VFW Post #9893. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, from 9 A.M. until the time of the service.
