Bruce G. Hartman, 75, of Nelsonville, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the Pickering House in Lancaster. He was born July 13, 1938, in Athens, son of the late Audrey and Velma Ernestine Hartman. He was married to Carol Riley Hartman, who survives, for 57 years.
Bruce was a retired Maintenance Supervisor at the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail. He also worked at Ferd Hack, Peabody Coal and Southern Ohio Coal Meigs Mine #1. He graduated from Buchtel High School and attended the First United Methodist Church in Nelsonville.
In addition to his wife, Carol, he is survived by two daughters, Vicki (Jeff) Adams of Nelsonville and Kris (Brent) Stephenson of Logan; 5 grandchildren, Michelle (Scott) Rawlins, Michael (Melissa) Lewis both of Buchtel, Mark (Shae) Adams of Zanesville, Carissa Stephenson and Sean Stephenson both of Logan; 6 great grandchildren, Mariah, Lyndsay, Trey, Sydne, Kylee and Madisyn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother Mary Hunter Hartman.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. Karen Walters officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 PM, until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to be made to the Fairhope Hospice, 282 Sells Rd., Lancaster, OH 43130.
