Burman S. Stewart

Burman S. Stewart, 89, of McArthur, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. He was born August 23, 1924 in Vinton County, son of the late Joseph S. and Zella L. Peck Stewart. Burman was married to the late Jean Clemons Stewart.

He retired as the Assistant Manager of Lake Hope State Park and also retired from Austin Powder Company after 20 years. Burman was a WWII Navy Veteran, attended Hamden Church of the Nazarene, was a member of the McArthur VFW Post #5299 and was a member of the McArthur Eagles AERIE #2279.

He is survived by his sons, Tommy L. (Sandi) Stewart of Londonderry, Burman J. Stewart of Dundas and Joseph C. Stewart of McArthur; daughters, Mary (Jim) Woltz of Ray, Patty (Paul) Elkins of Patriot, Ohio and Cheryl Ann (Carl) Roddenberry of Jackson; sixteen grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; sisters, Roselene (Donald) Mallott of Chillicothe and Judy (Theodore) Rogers of Dayton and a special friend, Mae Case of McArthur.

In addition to his parents and wife, Burman was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Worrix; grandson; great grandson; five brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Calvary Assembly of God Church, 63849 U.S. Hwy 50, McArthur, with Pastor Carl Radcliff and Rev. Jerry R. Griffith Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur, with military graveside services being conducted by the McArthur VFW Post #5299. Friends may call at the Calvary Assembly of God Church on Monday, from 4-8 P.M. where an Eagles service will be held at 7 P.M.

Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Burman S. Stewart to Jenkins Community Care Center, 142 Jenkins Memorial Rd., Wellston, Ohio 45692.
