Billy E. Monks

Billy E. Monks, 87, of Nelsonville, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 at The Pickering House in Lancaster. He was born June 13, 1926 in Nelsonville, son of the late Clarence and Cora Young Monks. Billy was married to the late Donna J. Kinsey Monks.

He retired from Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric and was a WWII Army Veteran. Billy was a member of the Church of The Epiphany and the Masonic Lodge.

Billy is survived by his son, Bruce (Nancy) Monks of Lancaster; grandchildren, Lance Monks of Barre, Vermont and Kristen (Travis) Luby of Lancaster; great grandchildren, Amanda, Anni, Dylan, Austin and Miranda and a great great grandchild, Gavin.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Erin Springs, FairHope Hospice and The Pickering House.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Margaret Monks and Elizabeth Richardson.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, March 11, 2014 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, with Father William McCleery and Deacon William Bales officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, with military graveside services being conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 6-8 P.M.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Billy E. Monks to The Pickering House, 282 Sells Rd., Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
