Gladys "Jackie" M. Newman

Gladys M. “Jackie” Newman, 86, of McArthur, got her heavenly invitation to meet Jesus, Tuesday, March 25, 2014.  She was born April 3, 1927 in Portsmouth, daughter of the late Kermit and Nellie Hale Nickel.  Jackie was married for 70 years to Harve J. Newman, who survives.

She retired from Lake Hope State Park.

Jackie is survived by her son, Ron E. (Janice) Newman of Chillicothe; daughter, Regena Martin of McArthur; grandchildren, Tammy (Craig) Jones of Chillicothe, Angie Roberts of Kingston, Scott (Cindi) Newman of Chillicothe, Lanissa (Dan) Newman of McArthur and Barry (Vanessa) Brisker of McArthur; great grandchildren, Nick, Ben, Alli and Luke Jones, Josh and Aston Roberts, Nate and McKenna Newman, Ashley T.T. Wilbur, Bryant, Byron and Caryssa Brisker; great great grandchild, Brynlea Jones and a nephew, Joe (Vicki) Bloomfield of Portsmouth.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Kelly and Wilma Bloomfield.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Saturday, March 29, 2014 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor Dave McKnight, Rev. Jerry Griffith Jr. and Pastor Jim Eberts officiating.  Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, from 11 A.M. until the time of the service.
