Donald E. Hiles

Donald E. Hiles, 85, of Hamden, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He was born January 24, 1929 in Columbus, son of the late Charles and Inah Hartman Hiles Sr. Donald was married to Marcia Carpenter Hiles, who survives.

He retired from Columbus Gas Company, was a Marine Veteran serving in WWII and Korea and was a member of the VFW, AMVETS and American Legion.

Donald is survived by his stepsons, Randy and Leonard Scott of Columbus; stepdaughter, Cathy Newsome of West Virginia; several step grandchildren; several step great grandchildren and a brother, Warren Hiles of Thurston.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his fist wife, Mary Ellen Hiles and brother, Charles Hiles.

Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Thursday, May 22, 2014 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur. Interment will be held 1 P.M., Thursday, in Obetz Cemetery, 4455 Groveport Rd., Columbus, with military graveside services being conducted by the Vinton County VFW Post #5299. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
