Clarence Willard O'Nail

Clarence Willard O’Nail, 88, of Nelsonville, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014 at his residence. He was born February 11, 1926 in Floodwood, Ohio, son of the late Charles Burton and Florence Robinette O’Nail. Clarence was married April 19, 1947 to Phyllis Leora Jewett O’Nail, who survives.

Before retiring from Hocking Correctional Facility, Clarence worked construction most of his life. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and was a member of the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church.

He is survived by his sons, Kevin E. O’Nail and Willard (Cheryl) O’Nail, both of Nelsonville; daughters, Rhonda K. (Dave) Meador of The Plains, Tina M. (Dave) Wachenschwanz of Doanville and Robbin A. (Tom) Baden of Wellston; sixty-eight grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and a sister, Helen Todd of Nelsonville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Reva Dian Erwin; great grandson, Arlo Peter Kachenko; sisters, Mary Margaret O’Nail, Katherine Hickman, Ethel Beal and Ruth Hook and brothers, Carl, Fred and Charles O’Nail.

Funeral services will be held 1:00PM, Tuesday, May 27, 2014 in the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church, corner of Chestnut and Harper Sts., with Pastor Mike Thomas officiating. Interment will be Greenlawn Cemetery New Addition, Nelsonville where a military graveside service will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit. Friends may call at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, on Monday, May 26, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and Tuesday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
