Hazel M. Ray, 70, of McArthur, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Doctors West Hospital, Columbus. She was born October 6, 1943 in Jacksonville, daughter of the late John A. and Wanda Irene Shumway Speakman. She was the widow of the late Larry C. Ray.
She graduated from Allensville High School.
Hazel is survived by children, Paul (Sharon) Ray of Delaware, Wanda (Chuck) Ousley of McArthur, David (Misty) Ray of Rockbridge, Jeanna (Chan) Coleman of Allensville and Joshua (Sarah) Ray of McArthur; 8 grandchildren, Trey Washington, Trenton Washington, Amanda Ousley, Dustin Ousley, Kaylin Ray, Nathan Ray, Shane Coleman and Josie Ray; two great grandchildren, Anaya and Branson; brothers and sisters, Barbara Rhodes of Allensville, Terry (Judy) Speakman of Circleville, Scott (Melody) Speakman of Grove City, Teresa Speakman of Hamden, Tony (Kay) Speakman, Jim (Yvonne) Speakman, Chris Speakman, Jodi Speakman Jones all of Columbus and Lori Speakman of Chillicothe; many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ray’s wishes were to be cremated. The family will hold a private memorial gathering at a later date. Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St.
