Patti Jane Ogg

July 9, 1927 — June 5, 2014

Patti Jane Shelton Ogg, 86, of Nelsonville, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Halifax Hospice Care Center, in Port Orange, Florida, after a short battle with Acute Leukemia. She was born July. 9, 1927, in Nelsonville, and was the daughter of the late Cabe and Royal Joy Shelton. She was the wife of the late Verl Herman Ogg.

She was a member of Nelsonville First United Methodist Church, and was an active volunteer in the Nelsonville Schools when her children attended.

She is survived by her son, David Ogg of Michigan and a daughter, Nanette (James) Lavery of Holly Springs, N.C.; six grandchildren, Christopher David Ogg, Benjamin Joseph (Tisha) Ogg, Sarah (Trey) Elizabeth Ogg Watking, James (Brittany)Verl Lavery, Nathan (Kylie) J. Ogg and Janette Jane Lavery; four great-grandchildren, Drew Christopher Ogg, Dawson Manning Ogg, Joseph Sawyer Watkins, Jesse Holladay Watkins; and a sister, Addi June Shelton of Haydenville.

In addition to her husband, and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Nicholas Claiburn Ogg; a grandson, Jason Douglas Ogg; a daughter-in-law, Jo Anita Ogg; her mother- and father-in-law, Audrey and Herman Ogg; and six brothers and sisters; Mary Shelton Adams, Faye Shelton Lovesy, Joanna Shelton Evans, Thomas Shelton, Floyd Shelton, and Joseph Shelton.

Services will be held at the Nelsonville First United Methodist Church, 205 W. Columbus St., Nelsonville at 1:00 PM, Monday, June 9, 2014 with the Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville.

Memorial contributions may be made to any Hospice Center to enable loving care to those in need of loving care.
