Gertrude L. Keiffer

Gertrude L. Keiffer, 82, of Nelsonville, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014 at her residence. She was born January 14, 1932 in Nelsonville, daughter of the late Jess and Etta Hall Matheny Sr. Gertrude was the widow of the late Ralph Keiffer.

She was a member of the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church.

Gertrude is survived by her sons, Ralph Steven Keiffer of Nelsonville and Mark Edward (Kim) Keiffer of Athens; daughters, Paula (Terry) Holifield of Nelsonville, Angela (Johnny French) Keiffer of Kentucky and Jeri Lynn Keiffer of Carbondale; grandchildren, Steven, Joshua, Eddie, Bryan, Justin, Nora, Ambrosio, Chelsey, Sean Tyler, Kyle, Jade, Shey, Cody, Ila, Chasity and Christopher; fifteen great grandchildren and sisters, Sylvia Hanning of Nelsonville and Virginia Childers of Columbus.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Eleanor Korbel and Charlotte Hillyer; brother, Jess Matheny Jr. and infant sister, Beatrice Mae Matheny.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2014 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, with Pastor Mike Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, New Addition. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 6-8 p.m.
