Ruth L. Staley

Ruth L. Staley, 88, of Chauncey, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2014 at her Winchester Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Canal Winchester. She was born March 26, 1926 in Athens County, the daughter of the late Clement O. and Lulu May Evener McBride. She was the widow of the late Russ Staley.

She retired from the Athens City School District where she was a cook at Chauncey-Dover and was a member of the Chauncey Church of God.

Ruth is survived by a daughter, Becky and William Nicholson of Lithopolis and; four grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jim Staley; grandson, William Dennis Nicholson Jr.; brother, Harold McBride; sisters, Helen Powell, Vera Downs and Peggy Malone.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St, Nelsonville with Pastor Owen Stotts officiating. Ruth’s wishes were to donate her body to the willed body program at Ohio University.

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at both Winchester Place Nursing and Rehab Center and Harbor Light Hospice for Ruth’s care while she was a resident.
