Paul L. Boyer

Paul L. Boyer, 77, of McArthur, passed away, Saturday, July 5, 2014 at The Pickering House in Lancaster. He was born May 11, 1937 in Vinton County, son of the late Clarence and Prudence Lowe Boyer. He was married to Wendy Cline Boyer, who survives.


Paul formerly worked at Austin Powder. He was a member of the McArthur Christian Church and Mt. Moriah Wesleyan Church in Candler NC. Member and former Past Master of Delta Lodge #207 F.&A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus and the Aladdin Temple Shrine in Columbus. Past Worthy Patron of Sereno Chapter # 128 O.E.S. in McArthur and member of Elexa Chapter #228 O.E.S. in North Carolina.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Barry (Kathy) Boyer of McArthur; daughter-in-law, Deborah Mason Boyer of McArthur; grandchildern, Kylie (Keith) Collins, Ashley Boyer and Ryan (Jessica) Boyer; great-grandchildren, Katie and Kelli Collins; brothers, Robert Boyer of Woodville, OH and Lawrence Boyer of Hamden; sisters, Martha Martin of Candler, NC, Patty Scarberry of Indiana and Wilma Russell of Chauncey and his special companion, Baby Brown Dog.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Terry Boyer; brothers, Clarence Jr., Jasper, Charles, Roger and Arthur Boyer and a sister, Phyllis Wright.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Interment will be at Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call Tuesday, from 5-8 PM at the funeral home with a Masonic service starting at 7:00 PM.
