Lawrence Gordon Daft, 79, of McArthur, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014 at his residence. He was born December 27, 1934 in Vinton County, son of the late Raymond and Bertina Perry Daft. Lawrence was married to Sandra Lee Parfait Huntly-Daft, who survives.
He was the owner of Daft Coal Company and was an Army Veteran. Lawrence was a 50 year member of the Delta Masonic Lodge #207 F&AM in McArthur, a member of the McArthur Eagles AERIE #2279, a member of the McArthur VFW Post #5299, a member of the American Legion in Murray City and was a member of the Zaleski Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Michele (Lonnie) Starrett of Piqua, Ohio; grandsons, Shawn Stepp and Christian Starrett and sisters, Rita Kirby and Carol Anne Daft, both of Columbus.
In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his first wife, Freda Daft and brother, Gary Daft.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, October 2, 2014 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor Ferrell Rood officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur, with military graveside services being conducted by the McArthur VFW Post #5299. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m., with a Masonic service being held at 7 p.m.
