Dewey E. Roof Jr.

Dewey E. Roof Jr., 47, of McArthur, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia. He was born October 30, 1966 in Gallipolis, son of Dewey E. Roof of Creola and Shirley D. McKinniss Roof of McArthur. Dewey was married to JoEllen Ailes Roof, who survives.

He worked for Central States Environmental, was a member of the Orphan’s Friend Masonic Lodge #275 in Wilkesville and was a member of the Eagles in Chillicothe.

In addition to his parents and wife, Dewey is survived by his daughters, Renee (Warren) Thacker of Gallipolis and Ashley Selby of Sugar Grove; sons, Dakota Burns of Allensville and Ed “Buddy” Selby of Sugar Grove; a sister, Shirley (Heath) Henderson of Athens; niece, Megan Heater and his “girls,” Harley Sue and Alli Jo.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dewey Roof III and daughter, Maria Roof.

A funeral service will be held 7 p.m., Thursday, October 9, 2014 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor Jim Taylor officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 5 p.m. until the time of the service with a Masonic service being held at 6 p.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Dewey E. Roof Jr. to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio, 711 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43205.
