Margaret Marie Sowers

April 14, 1921 — October 8, 2014

Margaret Marie Sowers, 93, of McArthur, passed away, Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Maple Hills Nursing Home, McArthur. She was born April 14, 1921 in Somerset, Ohio, daughter of the late Archie D. and Marie Linville Cotterman. She was the widow of the late Roy William Sowers, who passed away in 1991.

Margaret retired from the Vinton County School District as a cook. She was also a member of the McArthur United Methodist Church, the Vinton County Senior Citizens, the Care Outreach program, Alice House Historical Society, Ross County Hospice and the American Red Cross in Vinton County.


She is survived by her sons, James D. (Delores) Sowers, Ronald D. (Charlotte) Sowers, Jeffrey L. Sowers and Brett A. (Terri) Sowers; daughter, Beverly M. (Robert) Tripp; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Billie Jean Sowers.


In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Grover W. Sowers; brothers, Archie and Richard Cotterman; sisters, Myrtle Clayton, Mildred Burnworth, Wilma Bowles, Mary Flowers, Betty Beck and Helen Goddard.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Rev. Terry Cavanaugh and Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Interment will be at Mt Olive Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 9:00 AM, until the time of service, at the funeral home.
