Mary V. Ward

Mary Violet Rowland Ward, 82 of Wellston, passed away peacefully at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston on Thursday, October 9, 2014. She was born September 29, 1932 in Jackson County, daughter of the late John Sherman Rowland and Avis Gertrude Peck Rowland.  She was married for 33 years to the late Oscar William Ward Jr., who preceded her in death in June 2011.

She is survived by her children, Sara (Jerry) Zinn, Diane (Jim) Emmert, and Debbie (Mike) Hembree, all of Hamden, Frank (Bonnie) Ward, of Lancaster, John (Rhonda) Rose, of Dayton, Sharon (Mike) Lewis, of Jackson and Adam (Nanette) Ward, of Chillicothe;  brothers, Charles and John Rowland, both of Dayton;  sister, Connie Leedy, of Dayton; 16 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by brothers Virgil and Larry Rowland; sister Ann Anderson; 3 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2014 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 West High Street., McArthur, with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating.  Interment will be in Hamden Cemetery.  Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
