Donald E. Bowers

Donald E. Bowers, 74, of Grove City, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the his residence. He was born September 15, 1940, in Hocking County, son of the late Cable and Carmen Leasure Bowers.

Donald was a member of the ELKS Lodge #37 in Grove City, Nelsonville VFW #3467 and American Legion Post 164.

He is survived by his son, Donnie (Mary Ann) Bowers of Buchtel; daughters, Pam (Tony) Sullivan of Buchtel, Cheryl (Jerry) Higgins of Buchtel, Barb (Chris) Kistner of Grove City, Angie (Phillip Borders) Mohney of Grove City, Cara (Phillip) Beeman of Grove City; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Manny Bowers of Lancaster; sisters, Sharon (Tom) Guess of Nelsonville and Debbie Bowers of Logan; aunt, Violet Horton of North Carolina and Pam and Cheryl’s mother, Sally Leak.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Sharon Bowers and sons-in-law, Rob Mohney and Jason Duty.


Donald’s wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Pastor David Shoemaker officiating. A military service will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard starting at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nelsonville at a later date. Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
