William Russell Lake, 71, of Millfield, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the Logan Healthcare Center in Logan. He was born July 17, 1943, in Gallipolis, son of the late Russell Sylvester Lake and Christine Augusta (Albert) Morris Lake Gould. He was married to Sandra Arlene Glab Lake, who survives.
William was a member of the Community of Christ in Logan. He graduated from Ohio University with three degrees, including a Bachelor in Education and a Masters in Economics. He taught Social Studies and Business at Southern Local Schools in Meigs County. After retirement he served many local schools as a home tutor. He took great pleasure in seeing the students he tutored succeed. He coached basketball and baseball. He was an avid walker; he would walk rain or shine, sleet or snow and he loved food. He also loved taking tickets on Saturday and Sunday afternoons at his part time job at Movies 10.
In addition to his wife, Sandra, he is survived by his son, Sean Robin Lake of North Hollywood California and his daughter, Lori Danielle Lake of Millfield.
In addition to his parents and step father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Francis Morris and Uri Della Sayer Morris.
William’s wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Community of Christ, 1700 E. Front St., Logan with Pastor Shelia Klinebriel officiating. Arrangements are by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville.
