Doris Jean Cleavenger, 87, of McArthur, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Holzer Medical Center in Jackson. She was born September 2, 1927 in Vinton County, daughter of the late Harley and Lillie Graves Hysell. Doris was the widow of the late George Willard Cleavenger.
She retired from Standard Hardware & Supply Company in McArthur after 39 years, was a member of the First Christian Church in McArthur and was a member of the DAV #45 Auxiliary in Jackson. Doris loved Bingo.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Walker of McArthur, Cheryl (Lundy) Crownover of Chillicothe and Deborah Cleavenger of McArthur; stepdaughter, Vicki (Max) Coon of Middletown; grandchildren, Scott (Ruth) Walker of McArthur, Carrie (Chris) Ray of McArthur, Kelly (Mark) Little of McArthur, Brad Crownover of Yonkers, New York, Brody (Jessica) Crownover of Chillicothe and Ashley Massie of McArthur; nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Neil and Kenneth Hysell; sisters, Edna Whipple, Mildred Armstrong, Mary Alice Hayes and Anna Mae Graves; son-in-law, Jeff Walker and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 9, 2014 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 6-8 p.m.
