Owen Raymond Palmerton, Jr., 69, of Logan, passed away Friday, December 5, 2014 at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster. He was born July 28, 1945, in Franklin County, son of the late Owen Raymond Palmerton, Sr. and Violet Smith Palmerton. He was married to Phyllis J. Craft Palmerton, who survives, for 48 years.
Owen was a Surveyor for the State of Ohio. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was a member of Mingo Lodge #171 F&AM, Hocking Hills Shrine Club, Tarhe Shrine Club and the Athens Fish and Game Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Jim) Robinson of Logan; grandchildren, Raymond (Kristen) Robinson of Tiffin, Robert Robinson of Logan, Ralph (Katie Gerhardt) Robinson of Tiffin; great granddaughter, McKenzie Jo Robinson and a sister, Jeanette (Atlee) Byler of Green Cove Springs, FL.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Owen R. “Trey” Palmerton III; sister, Jeanninne Price and a brother, John W. Palmerton.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Rev. Ricci Arthur officiating. Interment will be at New Fairview Memorial Gardens in Rockbridge, with military graveside services conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Masonic service will be held at 7:00 PM by Mingo Lodge #171 F&AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contribution be made to Logan Christmas Lights Fund, c/o Logan-Hocking Chamber of Commerce, 140 E. Main St., Logan, Ohio 43138.
