George E. Tucker, 83 of Reynoldsburg and formerly of Logan, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014 at his residence. He was born January 18, 1931, in Gore, Ohio, son of the late William Owen and Lucy Brown Tucker. He was married to Roberta Kaye “Bobbi” Welch Moore Tucker, who survives.
George was retired as the manager of Elberfelds Department Store with 50 years of service. After his retirement, he was also employed at Cardaras Funeral Homes, in Logan and Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Homes, in Canal Winchester. George was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, member of the former Immanuel United Methodist Church, Lancaster Post #11 American Legion, Logan Moose Lodge, Past President and Hall of Fame Member of the Logan Jaycees, Past President of the Logan-Hocking Chamber of Commerce, member of the C.I.C. Board, Board Member of the former Hocking Hills Country Club Board, 3 terms as President of the Selective Service Board, Chairman of the Hocking County Republican Committee, Hocking Valley Community Hospital Golf Foundation Committee for 20 years, 1992-1993 Platinum Edition “Who’s Who Worldwide”, Past President of the Chieftan Boosters Association, and former Chairman of the Logan Christmas Light Committee.
He is survived by his sons, Bradley (Chris) Tucker, of Yountville, CA and Mark (Kim) Tucker, of Dublin; daughter, Beth Ann Tucker, of Dublin; step sons, James Robert Moore, of Maineville and David Michael (Sue) Moore, of Westerville; step daughter Pamela Kaye (Andrew) Swope, of Reynoldsburg; grandchildren Matthew, Melinda, and Jill Tucker; 8 step grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren; sister, Ocean (Stanley) Houston, of Newark. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Wells Tucker, and brothers, Wade and Dale Tucker.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2014 at Hocking Hills United Methodist Church, 66 E. Hunter St., Logan with Rev. Ricci Arthur officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan and 1 hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
