Dorothy J Smith

Dorothy Janette Smith, age 93, of Logan, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the Carlin House in Logan.  She was born January 20, 1921 in Marietta, OH, daughter of the late Earl Wright Wittekind and Freda Faye Babb Wittekind.  She was the widow of the late Charles William Smith.

Dorothy was formerly employed at Godman Shoe in Logan, Brooks Shoe Factory in Nelsonville and the Wright Field in Dayton.  She was a member of the Lancaster Church of Christ.

She is survived by her son, Shawn William Smith, of Logan; daughters, Donna Charlene (Harold) Phillips, of Logan, Sherry Marlee Brady, of Lancaster, and Amy Christine (Michael) Zeigler, of McArthur; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; brothers, Dean (Mickie) Wittekind, Dale (Pat) Wittekind, and Don (Edie) Wittekind, all of Logan; sisters, Laverne Spires, of Missouri and Boots (Carl) Wharton, of Sugar Grove.

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Louise Pratt and Joanne Eyerman; brother, Jackie Wittekind; granddaughter, Tammy Christman; great grandchildren, Jordan and Lacey Grove; daughter-in-law, Nancy Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan with Minister Jason Thompson officiating.  Entombment will be at New Fairview Mausoleum.  Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
