Virginia Estella Graves

Virginia Estella Graves, 94, of McArthur, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2014 at Holzer Assisted Living in Jackson. She was born January 14, 1920 in Winding Gulf, West Virginia, daughter of the late Albert and Bertha Jenkins Hubbard. Virginia was the widow of the late Rev. Clyde W. Graves.

She was a retired math teacher from Vinton County Schools. Virginia was a member of Allensville Christian Church and the McArthur Christian Church. She was also a pianist for many churches and taught several students the “love of music.”

Virginia is survived by her son, Gene (Brenda) Graves of Lima; thirteen grandchildren; twenty eight great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; brother, Gene (Rose) Hubbard of Pulaski, Virginia; sisters, Betty Finn of Staunton, Virginia and Peggy (Horace) Brown of Hillsville, Virginia and several nieces and nephews; daughter-in-law, Terry Graves, of Lexington, KY; former daughter-in-law, Lisa Graves, of McArthur.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Larry Wilson Graves and Donald Leroy Graves; a great grandson and five brothers.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Randall Minton officiating. Interment will be in Londonderry Cemetery, Londonderry. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 5-8 p.m.
