Rev. Ruth Annabelle Appleman, 83, of McArthur, passed away Friday, December 26, 2014 at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens. She was born September 15, 1931 in Starr Township, Hocking County, daughter of the late John Benjamin and Edna Louie George Harkless. Ruth was the widow of the late Rev. Willard W. Appleman.

She graduated from the former Union Furnace High School in 1949 and formerly worked at Godman Shoe Company in Logan. Ruth was a member of Allensville Church of Christ in Christian Union and was the former Pastor of Cornelius Chapel for 20 years.

She is survived by her son, John W. Appleman of McArthur; stepdaughter, Freeda F. Ankrom of McArthur; grandchildren, Caleb, Faith, Rachael, Trinity, Sharon, Reba, Shirley, Mona Jean, Bonnie, Glenda, Linda, Charles, Patty Ann and Betty and a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Rosa Tatman; stepsons, Clifton R. and Charles G. Appleman; grandson, Paul Tatman and brothers, William and James Harkless.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in the Coonville Holiness Church, Starr Township, with Rev. James Mathias officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur on Tuesday, from 5-8 p.m.
