Brenda Carol Prater Paige

Brenda Carol Prater Paige, 56, of Kannapolis, North Carolina, formerly of McArthur, Ohio, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015 at her residence. She was born July 26, 1958 in Vinton County, daughter of Luster Prater of McArthur and the late Lois Coleman Prater.

Brenda was a former employee of Willis Insurance Company of Washington Courthouse, Ohio for many years until she was employed by Litaker Insurance Company of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Brenda’s passing leaves her fiancé, Mel Christy of Kannapolis, North Carolina and his children, Ashlyn Christy of Kannapolis, North Carolina and Jordan (Britney) Christy of Georgia; her beloved granddaughter, Hailey Christy of Georgia; sisters, Sharon (Gary) Kersey of Wilmington, Ohio and Lucy (Greg) Peck of Rogers, Arkansas; brothers, Ron (Jody) Prater of Mobile, Alabama and Randall Prater of McArthur; nieces and nephews, Rebecca Prater (Niece and Goddaughter), Amy Scritchfield, Elizabeth Mahan, Chuck Older, Jeremiah Prater, Robert Peck, Tom Ramage, Tim Ramage, Tyler Ramage, Trent Haery and Todd Haery; several great nieces and nephews, many special friends and loved ones.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her sister, Karen Prater.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 7, 2014 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Ronald Prater officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 5-7 p.m.
