Clifford S. Thompson

Clifford S. Thompson, 85, of Ray, passed away Friday, January 2, 2015 at Traditions of Chillicothe in Chillicothe. He was born May 18, 1929 in Ray, Ohio, son of the late William S. and Lelia Allison Thompson. Clifford was married to Alice M. Buskirk Thompson, who survives.

He formerly worked for Belmont Casket Company in Columbus and retired from COTA Transit Company in Columbus. Clifford was a former member of United Pilgrim Holiness Church in Columbus and attends Pleasant Valley Holiness Church.

He is survived by his son, Steven L. (Ruth) Thompson of Ray; daughter, Teresa (Gary) Will of Tennessee and Lisa (Robert) Syx of Carroll, Ohio; grandchildren, Jennifer (Garett) Clark, Steven (Jaclyn) Thompson, Anthony (Amber) Thompson, Matthew (Katie) Syx, Courtney (James) Elliott and Ethan Will; great grandchildren, Gavin Clark, Kaylee and Aubree Thompson and Jade and Ciara Elliott; brother-in-law, Dave (Sara) Buskirk of Ray and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Irvin and Dale Thompson and sisters, Ruth Thomas and Leona Glassburn.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2015 in the Allensville Church of Christ in Christian Union, with Pastor Phil DeMint officiating. Interment will be in Bell Cemetery, Vinton County. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Monday, from 6-8 p.m. and on Tuesday, one hour prior to the services at the church.
