Gladys Jean Skivers, 71, of Nelsonville, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. She was born February 2, 1943 in Nelsonville, the daughter of the late Ray Moore and Bertha Moore Danko. She was the widow of the late Clarence Skivers.
Jean retired from the job she loved as a House Keeper at Doctors Hospital Nelsonville in September. While employed at the hospital she received numerous recognitions for her great work. She loved crocheting and teaching the art to others. She was also a big supporter for the American Cancer Society. Most importantly, she loved her family and enjoyed spending every moment she could with them.
She is survived by her daughters, Teresa “Terri” (Julie Bourne) Bullock of Logan and Lora Townley of Nelsonville; grandchildren, John (Lisa Stanley) Townley, Misty (John) Maye, Tiffany Bourne, Eugene Bourne, Michael Bourne and Chase Bourne; seven great grandchildren; brother, Danny Moore of Nelsonville; sisters, Ruth Keplar of Orrville and Joan (Keith) Palmer of Athens; special sister-in-law, Karen Moore; special nieces, Sherri Keplar and Kelly Gheen; several other nieces and nephews and many loving friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde and Kenneth Moore and her sisters, Alice Cornell and Dorothy Johnson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 16 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Pastor Mike Thomas officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery New Addition, Nelsonville. Friends may call Thursday, from 6-8 PM and Friday, 1 hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
